Press Release: Caravans public consultation should not be a rushed process - MSA

With reference to the public consultation in question (Development Notification (Amendment) Order, 2020), concerning  the request for authorization for the Temporary Use of Land for caravans and camps by various government entities such as a Local Council, or any other public entity, the Malta Sociological Association has the following feedback:

The Malta Sociological Association appeals to the Government to avoid taking rushed decisions on such a sensitive issue. Government should consider the different voices of the different stakeholders, and evaluate accordingly, in the spirit of democratic deliberation. In this regard, we believe that the Government should employ a social impact assessment, through an ongoing process, on this matter, conforming to international guidelines, such as those of the International Association for Impact Assessment.
